Description: Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius has a flair for design and a passion for making knives. This chef's knife will be a kitchen favorite. The high performance knife will do a great job, whether slicing meats, chopping vegetables, or mincing herbs. It will be a spectacular general purpose knife in the kitchen.
The blade was forged by Baker Forge in the US. The san mai damascus blade combines copper and damascus cladding with a high performance carbon steel core. Coppermascus is created by a fusion welding processes without the use of nickel. The result is a stronger bond with a high performance cutting edge. The spine is rounded for a comfortable pinch grip.
The Japanese-inspired ambidextrous octagonal handle combines ancient bog oak with mammoth molar. This wood has been buried in a bog for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark brown to almost black color. Orange G-10 spacers surround the mammoth molar and complement the copper in the blade well. The handle is finished with a mokume finial (forged from copper and nickel) at the end of the handle.
To protect the knife during transportation, a sheath made from wood and leather is included.
Excellent work throughout!
