Description: This exceptional chef's knife is the work of Mastersmith Christoph Deringer. The blade was hand forged from O1 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment is clearly visible in the differential hardness line approximately half way up the blade. This results in a soft, supportive spine and an extremely hard, long lasting edge. The bolster is integral -- a technique that, while common in production knives, is very rare in handmade knives due to the difficulty of implementation. The handle is formed from stone maple and shows off spacers formed from fileworked nickel silver surrounded by brass. The result is very warm and engaging look and feel. The knife has perfect balance and feels exceptional in the hand.
