Description: Journeyman Smith John Parks creates an exceptional knife and this one is no exception. He hand forged 1095 carbon steel to shape, leaving rustic hammer marks along the handle. The chisel ground edge is exceptional for detailed, precision cuts such as those required for Ikebana or woodworking. Knotted, waxed cord provides a secure grip. The spine has been hand fileworked into a vine pattern -- both providing artistry and increasing the grip. Exceptional work throughout. Captivating for the eye and comfortable in the hand.
Ikebana is a Zen flower arranging style that strives for simplicity and naturalness. So as to maintain the freshness of the flowers, the stems are cut under water using this shape of knife. This technique will also work for traditional Western flower arranging. This knife is also used for a wide variety of woodworking jobs.
