Description: Michael Rader, who was honored as a journeyman smith June 2006, is best known for creating dramatic swords and daggers with woodwork that is beyond compare. Recently, he put his attention to creating chef's knives. The results are exceptional.
Like his hunting knives, this slicing knife was pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. From carving roasts to cutting large vegetables and fruits, a slicer's long slender blade is a great choice. Particularly suited to slicing roasts and hams.
The bolster is integral -- a technique that, while common in production knives, is very rare in handmade knives due to the difficulty of implementation. The handle is formed from oak burl with blackwood accents. By using stabilized woods, Michael is able to combine the beauty of natural wood with durability. The knife has perfect balance and feels exceptional in the hand.
