Description: Of the many makers that create Laguiole-style knives, Fontenille Pataud is generally regarded as the best. Each knife is handmade to precision specs and is a work of visual and textural art. All of their knives are made in their workshop in Thiers, France. Their team is comprised of eight skilled craftsmen and apprentices. Gilles Steinberg, owner and master craftsman, manages the group. Keeping the company's size small and employing only the best cutlers keeps the quality and exclusiveness of these knives at a premium level.
The Picnic - Guilloché is the model that sets the standard by which other Laguiole knives are judged. This beautiful picnic knife is expertly crafted. It features the traditional shepherd’s cross and Laguiole bee, which is solid steel and forged into the spring. The spring is made from 3mm thick Z20c13 stainless steel. The whole spring & bee are then hand chased with a file – from the tip of the blade to the back bolster.
Moroccan thuya burl scales are accented with polished brass bolsters. The blade is crafted from special RWL34 Swedish powder stainless steel, hardened to 60Hrc. This “super-steel” is perfect for those who love knives with a sharper, longer lasting edge. Each knife features hand filework unique to the knife. The hardened and polished stainless steel corkscrew is a 5 ringed worm, 8mm in diameter.
This beautiful picnic accessory comes in a fine velvet and calf skin presentation box and leather pocket pouch. Also included is a certificate of authenticity. This makes a wonderful gift that will last a lifetime!
