Description: The nakiri is a traditional Japanese knife shape ideal for chopping fruit and vegetables as well as thin slicing of meats (with no bones). The edge is double beveled, like a Western knife. Though sometimes called a vegetable cleaver, the thin edge geometry makes it a precision tool, rather than a Japanese equivalent to a meat cleaver.
The stunningly beautiful Shun line of kitchen cutlery is forged by Kai in Japan and distributed through Kershaw. Shun's proprietary, high-performance VG-MAX steel, which provides incredible edge retention, is clad with damascus stainless steel, then ground and bead-blasted, revealing the flowing pattern of the layered steel. The result is a line of knives that is sharp, durable, corrosion resistant, and beautiful to behold!
'D' shape Black Pakkawood handles provide beauty and function. The 'D' shape is designed for right handed users and provides maximum comfort and control. Pakkawood provides strength and stability along with moisture resistance.
