Description: This artisan made mezzaluna shows are John Leitch's work at its best. Mezzaluna, meaning half-moon in Italian, are chopping knives typically used for herbs and nuts. The knife and its attending recessed cutting board is extremely effective as well as dramatic.
The ATS-34 stainless steel blade was heat treated by Paul Bos to Rc 59 and will have exceptional edge holding. Leitch is well known for his deeply acid etched blades. The etching is both visually exciting and provides a surface that resists sticking to the food being chopped.
The handle is formed from black linen micarta. The handle is nicely offset with the mosaic and stainless pins. A brass bolster finishes the comfortably sculpted handle.
This mezzaluna is accompanied by a presentation chopping bowl that is sure to be the highlight of any kitchen. The presentation bowl is turned from Oregon burl.
Exceptional work throughout!
