Description: Journeyman Smith David Lisch created this exceptional chef's knife. The 9-3/4 inch long damascus blade is a mosaic pattern that he calls Pinwheel. The steel is highly complex and immediately grabs attention. The blade is forged to shape, resulting in optimal grain pattern and durability. Showing his tremendous skill at the forge, the bolster is integral. Though this technique is regularly done in production knives, forging an integral bolster in a custom setting is extremely difficult and shows the maker's skill at its best. The blade is slightly heavier than most Japanese blades, but lighter than their German counterparts -- a nice balance between performance and strength.
The handle scales are formed from presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood. It swells at the palm and toward the pommel for a comfortable grip. The distal tapered tang is particularly hard to fit to the wooden scales and David has accomplished this perfectly!
David is clearly a maker to watch for his culinary knives!
