Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned grinding technique from his father. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
Stout Spear is an evolved model of the Kiku Hopun -- with improved blade and handle. 9-3/4 inch long and narrow tanto style blade terminates in a spear tip. It was made from OUS steel, which was created by forging AUS-6 stainless steel around an OU-31 semi-stainless steel. This results in a knife that has the legendary edge holding that has made Kiku famous with easier care. Soft, supportive sides help support the super-hard center core for piercing and prying.
The six inch handle is contoured stacked burgundy and black G10. Finger notches a lanyard hole at the end ensure a secure, comfortable grip.
Accompanied by a Kydex sheath.
