Description: Journeyman Smith Keith Fludder resides in New South Wales, Australia. He started making knives in 1989 is now a full time maker. Keith's knives are works of art that excel in performance. This slicing knife really shows his expertise and his understanding of chef's knife geometry really shines through.
This high performance utility knife is perfect for slicing fruits, vegetables, and meats. The thin blade produces a very clean, even cut without bruising the food being sliced.
The 6 inch blade was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel. It is nicely distal tapered for optimal balance and has a beautiful, thin geometry. Many makers and users feel that 52100 carbon steel is among the best, if not the best steel used on knives! Because this knife is carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust and oxidation. This knife is perfectly balanced and is not one that you'll want to put down.
The handle is formed from figured gidgee (Acacia cambagei). Gidgee is a unique and rare Australian hardwood. This difficult to find timber is highly sought after by knife makers. It is known for its depth of color, beautiful figure and extreme hardness. Gidgee is classified as the 3rd hardest wood in the world. The scales are set on the full tang with pins. The warm toned wood has been nicely carved so as to swell at the palm.
Exceptional work throughout!
