Handle: Pink ivory wood with black linen Micarta
Sheath: Pink ivory wood with black linen Micarta
Description: This Nordic styled hunter is a tremendous knife by Seattle native, Jeff Driscoll. Driscoll brought his full skill and attention to detail to creating this masterpiece which will feel as at home out in the field as in any collection.
The blade was hand forged by Poul Strande in Viby Sjælland, Denmark. A central bar of 20C carbon steel is surrounded by layers of 15N20. Poul's mark is set in gold on the right side of the blade.
The handle combines presentation grade pink ivory with black linen Micarta. Pink ivory (Berchemia zeyheri) is a South African hardwood that is "rarer than diamonds." According to folklore, the tree is considered sacred to the Zulus in South Africa and its use is reserved for royalty. Black linen Micarta adds a nice contrast. Spacers and formed from fine silver and nickel silver.
The knife is accompanied by a matching sheath formed from pink ivory and black linen Micarta. The sheath is completed with a braided leather lanyard.
Excellent work throughout!
