Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Herucus' folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish.
The drop point blade is made from N690 stainless steel. It is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is a steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
The blade is perfectly centered and has incredibly smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The scales are made from red and black carbon fiber. The bolsters are zirconium that have been textured and differentially heat colored. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scratching. Titanium liners have been hand filed and anodized a deep blue. The liners surround a backbar made from N690 stainless steel. The pierced, anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
