Description: Journeyman Smith Jim Arbuckle resides in Yorktown, VA. He started making knives in 1979 and has been forging knives since 1996. Growing up in Washington State, he spent most weekends hunting and fishing and has a great understanding of what features make a knife perform well. If you want a knife that is as attractive as it is useful, and don't want the typical off-the shelf chef's knives, then this handmade paring knife is one you will want to check out.
Paring knives come in handy for all sorts of detail tasks around the kitchen. One of the most used, paring knives are great for anything like peeling fruits and vegetables, chopping garlic, taking the eyes out of potatoes, or removing the heads from tomatoes. The short, thin blade combines control and precision.
The blade is made from 154CM, high carbon stainless steel. It is hardened and triple tempered to Hrc 59-60, then hand rubbed to an heirloom quality satin finish. The spine is nicely rounded for a more comfortable grip. The distal tapered blade ensures perfect balance.
Stabilized buckeye burl wood scales are set on the full tang for strength and durability. The tang features modified bamboo filework filled with black resin. This allows the beauty of filework without the worry of food getting into the recesses. The handle is contoured to accommodate a comfortable grip and will be a pleasure to use for hours.
Excellent work throughout!
