Oatley, James (Oatley Knives)
Nothing Currently Available
James Oatley has a great understanding of knives. His grandfather on his mother's side was a butcher and watching him sharpen the tools of his trade as a child was fascinating. When he received a Takeshi Saji gyuto as a 30th birthday present, he was inspired to better understand the art of bladesmithing. Visiting the Sydney knife show in 2014 opened his eyes to the level of work that was being made in Australia. That was it for him -- With the help and inspiration of many of Australia's great bladesmiths, James Oatley has been hard at work.
James now creates some of the exceptional culinary knives, hunting knives, and carving knives currently being made in Australia. He is particularly well known for his Japanese-inspired, clean designs -- ranging from gyuto and nakiri to single bevel sushi knives
