Description: This bullnose scimitar by bladesmith Peter Pruyn of Brothersville Knives is a unique and playful piece. This will be your go-to knife for breaking down large cuts of beef or general butchery work such as deboning or even filleting larger fish. This exceptional scimitar has the feel of an antique knife that could stay in your family for generations.
The blade was forged by Peter from W1 carbon steel and features an antiqued finish. The blade is slightly convex ground providing a durable, chip resistant edge. The contoured spine provides a pleasing aesthetic. The bullnose provides a durable tip that is unlikely to break even under heavy use. A spanish notch makes resharpening the blade a breeze! Because the blade is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to oil both the blade and the natural horn handle.
The handle is made from ram's horn secured to the full tang using four mosaic pins. The natural texturing of horn feels great in the hand and provides plenty of grip. Copper bolsters are secured using brass pins and bring additional warmth to this exquisite knife. Blue fiber spacers help the horn handle scales to adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The contoured handle will be comfortable to use for many hours at a time. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout!
