This European style chef's knife is likely to become the primary knife used in your kitchen. The sleek blade provides finger clearance while being extremely dexterous. The blade has a perfect shape for an efficient rocking chop. Whether mincing garlic, chopping onions, or slicing meats, this knife will be a perfect choice.
The ladder pattern damascus blade is forged from 240 layers of 1075 and 15n20 carbon steels and will have excellent edge retention. The pattern is extremely enaging and flows into the integral damascus bolster. An integral bolster, while common in production knives, requires tremendous skill in a custom environment. The bolster brings weight into the center of the knife.
The handle is contoured from camatillo (Dalbergia congestiflora) wood for a comfortable grip. Camatillo, also known as Mexican kingwood, has an exceptionally dramatic figure. Alternating black G10 and bronze spacers nicelly accent the dark toned wood and will help it adjust to humidity and temperature changes from the kitchen. Because this knife is made from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and natural wood handle.
Excellent work throughout!
