Description: C. Luis Pina is an exceptional bladesmith and specializes in kitchen knives. Luis' past career as a chef provides him with an understanding of culinary knives that is rarely found in bladesmiths.
This integral chef's knife is sure to become a kitchen favorite. It can be used for a wide range of common kitchen tasks. From chopping, to slicing, to detail work, this elegant chef's knife is sure to make the cut.
The blade was hand forged to shape from W1 carbon steel. A forced mustard patina provides some rust resistance and tremendous beauty. The convex edge will assist with food release and the rounded spine provides comfort when using a pinch grip.
The handle is contoured from stabilized spalted curly koa wood, perfectly fit to the integral bolster. A black G10 spacer adds contrast and assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity. Integral bolsters have superior structural integrity but require a particularly talented smith to make one in a custom setting. The bolster is contoured to encourage a comfortable pinch grip, though the handle is aso exceptionally comfortable when held further back. The handle is carved to swell at the palm, move into a slimmer waist and swell again at the end of the handle.
This is a knife you won't want to put down -- even after hours of use!
