Description: Journeyman Smith Eduardo Berardo met Mastersmith Luciano Dorneles in December of 2004. He was immediately inspired by Dorneles’ work and by January 2005 he was building his own forge and by the end of that month, with Dorneles’ help by phone, Berardo had completed his first knife. This was the start of a long friendship. By the end of that first year, Berardo was displaying at knife shows and won the first of many awards. In June 2016, he was honored to become an ABS journeyman smith. He won the Joe Keeslar Award for the Best Journeyman Smith knife presented. This elegant chef's knife features a European design with lightness that could only be achieved by such exceptional mastery.
This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen for those that like a slightly shorter, more nimble knife. The deep-bellied blade is well suited as a general purpose chef's knife. Whether slicing, chopping, mincing, or dicing, this comfortable knife will do it all. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.
This integral chef's knife was hand forged from Berardo's own ladder pattern damascus. Berardo's maker's mark is set on the right side of the blade. The damascus pattern moves seamlessly into the integral damascus bolster. Creating integral knives takes a particularly talented bladesmith and Berardo is clearly up to the task. The spine and choil are nicely rounded for comfort.
The sculpted handle is dyed and maple burl. This stabilized wood will hold up well to the demands of either a home or commercial kitchen. It is meticulously contoured for a comfortable, secure grip and meets seamlessly with the dramatic integral bolster.
This is an exceptional chef's knife and it could easily be the highlight of nearly any knife collection or a favorite knife in your kitchen.
