Description: The chef's knife is the primary knife used in the kitchen, easily handling almost all culinary tasks. This 7 inch chef's knife by Dale Miller is light, agile, and very easy to maneuver. This chef's knife has a straighter edge for efficient slicing, but there is just enough curve to enable rocking cuts, which just adds to its versatility. Whether slicing, chopping or dicing, this chef's knife is sure to be a favorite in your kitchen!
Miller's attention to detail shines through this elegant kitchen knife. The blade was hand forged from high performance 52100 carbon steel. Many knifemakers and metallurgists feel that 52100, with its small crystalline size, tremendous edge stability and toughness, is among the best carbon steels used in knifemaking today. Dale brought the steel to 63 Rockwell, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom quality to the knife. The bolster and spine are mirror polished for a retro look and a reminder of its heritage as a ball bearing. Because this knife is forged from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust and oxidation.
The hand contoured handle is snakewood (Brosimum guianense). Snakewood is among the hardest and heaviest woods in the world and features an unmistakable snakeskin-like figure. The natural wood is finished with 10 coats of Tur-Oil then hand rubbed to a satin finish. Alternating G-10 and copper spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The hand domed pin is Argentium silver. Besides making a more durable, harder and more pure alloy of silver, Argentium silver is tarnish resistant. The handle is nicely contoured a secure, comfortable grip, even after hours of use. Like other kitchen knives, this knife should not be put in a dishwasher.
Exceptional work throughout.
