Description: This vintage Wasky Steak Knife set by Gerber Knives in Portland, Oregon is an exceptionally rare find that will be popular with Gerber knife collectors or those wanting an authentic vintage set of quality steak knives. This set was only made by Gerber between 1960 and 1961 and is in excellent condition -- truly exceptional for a set of knives that is over 60 years old! This set is an interesting variation of the famous Miming Steak Knife, but with a larger, wider blade. These blades will be equally exceptional at slicing steak as spreading butter, jams, or other condiments while being used at the table.
The blades and handles show minor scuffs -- likely mostly from storage in the display case over the years. The knives have never been dishwashered and the blades and handles show no rust or oxidation, which is very rare for sets of this age. We have freshly sharpened the knives for a razor sharp edge so they can be used for decades to come!
The blades are satin finished stainless steel. The handles are die cast aluminum with a chrome plate.
This set of six knives comes with the original storage box made from solid American walnut lined with red felt. The box is also in excellent condition.
Looking at this set, it is no surprise that Gerber Knives were the wedding gift of the 50's, 60's and 70's. This exceptionally rare Wasky Steak Knife Set will make a perfect gift for the holiday season!
