Description: Will Stelter is among the most promising and most well known knifemakers in the industry. He's been making knives since he was 13 years old and in that short time has developed skills that rival those with triple the years of experience. Originally a local maker from Kirkland, Washington, Will moved to Montana to begin a full time knifemaking career right after high school. He has spent a large amount of time traveling the world and learning from many of the greatest makers anywhere. He is also well known through his work with Alec Steele on their highly successful YouTube channel. Will received his journeyman smith credentials at the 2022 Blade Show. He is creating some of the finest kitchen knives found anywhere!
This 7-1/2 inch chef's knife will be a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The blade is well suited for slicing vegetables, meats, and more. The gentle arc of the cutting edge allows an easy rocking, chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board. This beautiful knife is sure to become your kitchen favorite.
The blade is hand forged from Will's own feather pattern damascus combining 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern will have you staring at the blade for hours. The blade is convex ground to provide excellent food release. The spine and choil are nicely rounded for comfort. We recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and natural wood handle.
The bolster is integral to the blade, with the damascus pattern moving seamlessly from bolster to blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith. The bolster is heirloom fit to the handle ensuring no sharp corners even if the natural wood shrinks a bit over time.
The handle is Arizona desert ironwood. Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is extremely dense and durable. In fact, it is so dense that if a piece is dropped in water it will sink! It will hold up exceptionally to the harsh demands of a professional kitchen. The fluting on the handle provides a comfortable grip that is extremely elegant. This knife is so comfortable, you won't want to put it down! It is sure to become your favorite knife in the kitchen. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
To protect the knife during storage, a custom zipper case made by Francesca Ritchie (Teton Leather) is included.
Excellent work throughout!
