Description: Up and coming knifemaker, Jordan Buckley has tremendous attention to detail. Jordan, who is 20 years old (as of the spring of 2024) is a Washington native. His passion for bladesmithing is clear throughout all his knives. His work and aesthetic have tremendous refinement despite only having been making knives for 5 years. Perhaps it is no surprise that he aspires to become a mastersmith by 25!
This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The blade is well suited for slicing vegetables, meats, and more. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking, chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board. At 8-1/2 inches, it is a comfortable size for easy control and will get almost any task done. This nimble knife is sure to become your kitchen favorite.
The blade is forged from Jordan's own high layer count damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is extremely engaging. Jordan's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. Because the knife is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to prevent rust.
The bolster is integral to the blade, with the damascus pattern moving seamlessly from bolster to blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith.
The handle is ancient bog oak, sculpted to provide a comfortable grip. This wood has been buried in a peat bog for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark brown or black color. This knife is lightweight and will remain comfortable even after hours of use. This is sure to be a favorite in the kitchen! Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout!
