Description: Up and coming knifemaker, Jordan Buckley has tremendous attention to detail. Jordan (b. 2004) is a Washington native. His passion for bladesmithing is clear throughout all his knives. His work and aesthetic have tremendous refinement despite only having been making knives since 2016, when he was 12 years old. Perhaps it is no surprise that he aspires to become a mastersmith by 25!
A utility knife is between a chef’s knife and a paring knife, with a narrower and straighter blade. This makes it perfect for a multitude of small tasks where more precise cuts are needed, such as trimming broccoli, green beans, or other smaller vegetables. Some cooks like to use it in their hand, too—almost like a large paring knife. Others like its smaller size as an alternative to the chef’s knife. Utility knives are sometimes called sandwich knives because they work well on almost everything that goes into a sandwich—from thin-skinned vegetables such as tomatoes, to meats and cheeses.
The blade is forged from Jordan's own mosaic explosion damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is extremely engaging. The spine and choil are rounded for comfort. Jordan's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. Because the knife is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to prevent rust.
The Japanese-inspired ambidextrous oval handle is presentation grade curly koa. Koa (Acacia koa) is a beautiful exotic wood that only grows on the Hawaiian Islands. With its tight curl, it is one of the most desirable woods in the world. The front of the handle is sealed with a vintage green Micarta ferrule. Like other knives this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout!
