Description: Up and coming knifemaker, Jordan Buckley has tremendous attention to detail. Jordan, who is 21 years old (as of the spring of 2025) is a Washington native. His passion for bladesmithing is clear throughout all his knives. His work and aesthetic have tremendous refinement despite only having been making knives for 6 years. Perhaps it is no surprise that he aspires to become a mastersmith by 25!
Whether you prefer a rustic, crusty bread or a soft and tender loaf, this 10-2/3 inch bread knife will cut through easily to give you the perfect slice of bread every time. The blade combines large and smaller serrations for a smoother, cleaner slice. These aren't jagged little teeth that chew through your bread. These are razor-sharp serrations that will glide through the bread with ease.
Jordan began forging this integral bread knife, incorporating 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels into a captivating pattern. By forging closely to shape, he ensures optimal grain structure for a keen, long-lasting edge. The blade is distal tapered providing perfect balance in hand. The choil is nicely rounded for comfort. Jordan's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. Because the blade is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural wood handle.
The bolster is integral to the blade, with the damascus pattern moving seamlessly from bolster to blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith. The bolster is carved to encourage a comfortable pinch grip.
The handle is Arizona desert ironwood. Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is extremely dense and durable. In fact, it is so dense, that if a piece is dropped in water it will sink! It is hand contoured for a secure, comfortable grip - swelling at the palm, moving into a slimmer waist, and swelling again at the end of the handle. The dense ironwood will hold up beautifully to hard use, though this knife would feel at home in most any collection. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
