Description: Journeyman Smith Luke Dellmyer (b. 1980) is a bladesmith residing in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. He lives on a horse farm with 26 horses in their stables. He first started working with metal at 15 years old while working as a farrier apprentice. During this time, he would also create ornamental ironwork as a hobby. Today, he still works as a full time farrier while working as a bladesmith part time. He made his first knife in 2018 and was lucky to have Mastersmiths Josh Fisher and David Lisch as mentors along the way. Luke received his Journeyman Smith award at Blade Show in 2023. He also won the James Lucia award for best knife submitted by a new Journeyman smith. It is clear that Luke is a maker to keep an eye on as he moves up in the ranks of elite knifemakers.
This knife will be a perfect 'go-to' knife in the kitchen. The 8 inch blade provides plenty of reach, while still being easy to control. A gentle arc to the blade's edge makes this a perfect knife for both a rocking chop and a forward slice. Whether chopping onions, slicing tomatoes, mincing parsley, or portioning and slicing meats, this elegant chef's knife is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.
The damascus blade is forged from Luke's own damascus combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steel to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The pattern is high contrast and easy to see from a distance. The blade is flat ground for effortless slicing and chopping. Luke's touchmark is on the right side of the blade.
Vintage crosscut Micarta handle scales are set on a full tang for strength and durability. Micarta holds up exceptionally well to either a professional or home kitchen. The front is chamfered for a comfortable pinch grip. Torx screws allows the scales to be removed if cleaning or maintenance is needed.
Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Exceptional work throughout!
