Description: Up-and-coming knifemaker, Jordan Buckley, has tremendous attention to detail. Jordan (b. 2004) is a Washington native. His passion for bladesmithing is clear throughout all his knives. His work and aesthetic are tremendously refined, despite having only been making knives for 5 years. Perhaps it is no surprise that he aspires to become a mastersmith by 25!
This high-performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The blade is well-suited for slicing and chopping vegetables, meats, and more. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking, chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board. At 8-1/2 inches, it is a comfortable size for easy control and will get almost any task done. This nimble knife is sure to become your kitchen favorite.
The blade is hand forged 1084 carbon steel and features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. 1084 carbon steel is tough, chip-resistant, and maintains a razor-sharp edge for a long time. The blade is ground beautifully thin for high performance and perfect cuts. The spine and choil are nicely rounded for comfort.
The bolster is integral to the blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith. The bolster is carved to encourage a comfortable pinch grip.
The handle is stabilized presentation grade curly koa (acacia koa). This durable wood is found only on the Hawaiian Islands and is one of the most sought-after woods for knifemaking. This rare piece of koa combines sapwood and heartwood for a particularly dramatic appearance. Alternating Black G-10 and bronze spacers separate the handle from the satin finished integral bolster. The handle is lightweight and very nimble, keeping the knife comfortable even after hours of extended use. This knife is sure to become a kitchen favorite … it is so comfortable, you won't want to put it down!
Excellent work throughout!
