Description: This chef’s knife was made by Colorado bladesmith Chris Losacco of Elemental Forge. Chris creates chef’s knives that elevate your cooking experience. He focuses on kitchen cutlery because it requires the utmost skill, patience, and focus to execute well. Everything he creates is handmade, so no two knives are ever the same. Losacco started making knives because he wasn’t satisfied with buying pre-designed products made from subpar materials. Once he realized he could make drastically better knives, he was hooked. Making hand forged chef’s knives quickly became a passion.
This knife will be a perfect 'go-to' knife in the kitchen. The 8-3/4 inch blade provides plenty of reach, while still being easy to control. A gentle arc to the blade's edge makes this a perfect knife for both a rocking chop and a forward slice. Whether chopping onions, slicing tomatoes, mincing parsley, or portioning and slicing meats, this elegant chef's knife is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.
The blade is hand forged from Losacco’s own damascus san mai. The heat blued 52100 carbon steel core is surrounded by damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steel. A pure nickel spacer adds contrast and limits carbon migration. 52100 is considered by many knifemakers and knife users to be among the highest performing steels used to create modern knives. The resulting blade is not just beautiful, but it also combines exceptional edge holding with durability. A Fujiwara-inspired finger notch encourages a pinch grip for greater control. The blade has thin geometry and will effortlessly slice and chop.
The faceted handle is contoured stabilized ash burl. The front of the handle is sealed with an antiqued bronze bolster. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
The knife is accompanied by a tin of Elemental Forge wax to protect the carbon steel blade and wood handle. It also includes an edge guard for safe storage when not in use.
Exceptional work throughout!
