Muneishi Hamono Bunka in Aogami #2 (6/26/2025)
This knife is a beauty, checking all the boxes I envisioned when I started my quest for an entry into Japanese knives:

- A top tier carbon steel like Aogami #2 (plus san-mai to reduce corrosion rate)
- Made by an family smith (Hirotaka Muneishi), not mass-produced
- Traditional provenance: Hailing from the renowned knife-making region of Tosa in Kochi prefecture.
- Classic wa handle: with a buffalo horn ferrule and a teak shaft.
- Exceptional out-of-the-box sharpness.
- Compelling history: The fascinating story of Hirotaka Muneishi and his knifemaking lineage adds depth.
- Blade aesthetics: the kurouchi finish beautifully reflects the smith's agricultural heritage and looks really cool.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this knife and it's at an unbeatable pricepoint IMO for the quality of knife you get.
