Description: David Tuthill has been a blacksmith for many years, creating elegant ornamental work. Over the last several years, his attention to detail and skills in the forge have brought him to create truly world class chef's knives.
This knife will be a perfect 'go to' knife in the kitchen. The 6-1/2 inch blade is a perfect size and shape to get most any task done exceptionally well. It is a great size for the chef that prefers a smaller, more dextrous knife. A gentle arc to the blade's edge makes this a perfect knife for both a rocking chop and a forward slice. Whether chopping onions, slicing tomatoes, mincing parsley, or portioning and slicing meats, this elegant chef's knife is sure to become your 'go-to' knife in the kitchen.
Tuthill forged the blade from his own highly detailed Mountain Sky pattern mosaic damascus. The intricate pattern combines bold and fine details. Creating such a complex pattern with an integral guard shows David's tremendous skill at the forge.
The contoured cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) handle has elgant contours that encourage a pinch grip, though it is also comfortable in a handle-grip. Cocobolo continues to be among my favorite woods for high end kitchen knife handles. This resilient, resinous wood holds up beautifully to the demands of either a home or commercial kitchen. A silicon bronze spacer is surrounded by thinner red vulcanized fiber spacers. These spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes in the kitchen. This is an extremely comfortable handle … you won't want to put it down!
This is among my favorite knives made by Tuthill to date. It is exceptional was a really nice fit and finish throughout!
