Description: C. Luis Pina, is an exceptional bladesmith and specializes in kitchen knives. While living in Seattle, he apprenticed under Mastersmith David Lisch. Luis' past career as a chef provides him with an understanding of chef's knives that is rarely found in other bladesmiths.
This high performance slicing/carving knife is well suited to all sorts of slicing tasks in the kitchen. From slicing and portioning meats and fish to carving roasts, this knife is a perfect choice!
The bolster was created by forge welding mosaic damascus to the sides of the W1 carbon steel billet. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith to forge this way in a custom setting. The combination of the hand satin finished carbon steel blade and mosaic damascus bolsters is particularly dramatic.
The handle is stabilized and dyed curly maple. The Japanese-inspired octagonal handle is comfortable for both right and left handed users. Stacked spacers made from black and white G10 help the handle adjust to temperature and humidity changes in the kitchen. This is a knife that you will not want to put down!
Because this knife is made from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and natural wood handle.
Excellent work throughout!
