Description: C. Luis Pina, is an exceptional bladesmith and specializes in kitchen knives. He apprenticed under Mastersmith David Lisch. Luis' past career as a chef provides him with an understanding of culinary knives that is rarely found in other bladesmiths.
Chef's knives are the general purpose knife in the kitchen. From slicing tomatoes to chopping onions, this knife will get the task done perfectly. It is sure to be a kitchen favorite.
The blade was hand forged to shape from W1 carbon steel. The blade Is differentially heat treated, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge with durability. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom quality to the blade. The blade has plenty of height over the cutting board and will excel at either a rocking chop or a push cut technique.
The Japanese-inspired half-round handle spalted mango. It features the faced octagonal top, with rounded sides and a base. Many users find this to be the most comfortable traditional Japanese handle shape. The warm toned wood is particularly beautiful. The stabilized mango wood will hold up well to the demands of either a professional or home kitchen. Black and grey G10 spacers assist the handle adjust to humidity changes. Mosaic damascus bolsters are forge welded to the front of the handle, providing a comfortable pinch grip.
