Description: South Africa bladesmith Dave Skinner brings an exceptional level of work to his knives. Whether the knife is designed for the kitchen, for use out in the field, or for a collector, Skinner brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives.
This 5-3/4 inch chef's utility is a perfect all-purpose blade ideal for a wide variety of cutting tasks—slicing, dicing, and chopping small to medium-sized fruits, vegetables, and other foods. With its curved belly, this chef's knife can also be gently "rocked" through fresh herbs or spices to produce a very fine mince.
The blade is hand ground Bohler K110 semi-stainless steel. K110 is extremely tough, chip resistant and maintains good edge retention. It features a hand rubbed satin finish. Because K110 has a high carbon content, it is highly recommended to dry the knife after use to prevent corrosion.
The western style handle is stabilized and dyed masur birch wood secured to the full tang using four stainless pins and a central mosaic pin. Fiber liners help the stabilized wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The handle is finished with a polished 303 stainless steel bolster. The contoured handle is comfortable both in a pinch grip and when held further back on the handle.
Excellent work throughout! This is sure to be a kitchen favorite!
