Description: Frank Edwards began his journey into knifemaking in 2009 and started forging in 2011. He joined the American Bladesmith Society in 2017 and has taken classes from some of the greats in the custom knife world including mastersmiths Bill Burke and Rick Dunkerley. In a relatively short time, Frank is creating world class knives that rival those made by his teachers. Lately he has been focusing on some high performance chef's knives and the results have been exceptional.
This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The long, deep-bellied blade is well suited as a general purpose chef's knife. Whether slicing, chopping, mincing, or dicing, this comfortable knife will do it all. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.
The blade is hand forged 52100 carbon steel and features a hand rubbed satin finish. Many knifemakers as well as knife users feel that 52100 is among the best (if not the best) steel used in the modern knife industry. It provides an exceptionally keen, long lasting edge. Frank's mark is on the left side of the blade. The blade is ground beautifully thin for chopping with virtually no resistance. Both the spine and choil are nicely rounded for a comfortable grip with no hot spots.
Showing his tremendous skill at the forge, the bolster is integral. Though this technique is regularly done in production knives, forging an integral bolster in a custom setting is extremely difficult and shows the maker's skill at its best.
The presentation grade snakewood is sculpted to provide a comfortable grip. This wood has particularly dramatic striations from which it gets its name. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout. This knife is sure to become a favorite tool in your kitchen!
