Nearly as good as my Shigefusa (11/25/2018)
This is my go-to daily knife in the two kitchens where I don't have a Shigefusa nakiri. Alas, these are no longer available. The Wakui nakiri is incredibly sharp, lightweight (actually I would rate it light-medium) and it will cut, for example, onions paper thin. So this is a knife that can make finesse cuts easily. I haven't cut a hard squash with it so I don't know how it fares with very hard vegetables but everything else has sliced apart like butter. I've been using one of them for a few months and I have yet to hone or sharpen it so edge-holding is superior.

It cuts like a $300+ nakiri, hard to see how you can go wrong with Wakui-san's work. I was so impressed with the first copy I bought that I bought another one for our new kitchen.
