Description: The Suwada Knob Cutter (172085) is a traditional tool to help cut branches in a way that allows the bonsai to heal faster. Suwada's knob cutter has been the preferred tool for Japanese bonsai growers for more than 70 years. A knob cutter is not ideal to use for removing a whole branch at the trunk. Using a spherical cut, this peculiar cutter makes a big difference in the way a bonsai looks as well as its recovery time. When you remove a branch of a bonsai tree, a lump-shaped scar will appear on its trunk once it has healed. Cutting a little further in with a knob cutter ensures that the healed trunk will look flat.
In terms of sizes, a big knob cutter will save you some time and it will make a clean cut. A small one is suited to smaller branches and is easier to use to chew away any exposed parts of the main cut. The head is designed to cut small branches and clean the surface of a branch cut near the trunk.
Hand-forged from Japanese carbon steel, shaped, and polished by hand, the master blacksmith in Suwada Open Factory takes pride in making the best bonsai tools as precise and ergonomic as possible.

  • High precision and sharpness
  • Minimum disturbance for the bonsai tree
