Description: Journeyman Smith Aaron Wilburn, a long time maker of knives for the outdoor enthusiast, has expanded his focus to include culinary knives - creating high-performing kitchen workhorses! This utility knife is a perfect choice for slicing and light chopping. It is a good middle ground between a chef's knife and a paring knife and is a good choice when slicing tomatoes or chopping garlic. The slender blade deftly combines control and precision. This will definitely become a "go-to" knife!
The ladder pattern damascus blade incorporates 52100 and 15N20 carbon steels, forming intriguing damascene lines with beautiful contrast. The blade was oil quenched three times. Many thermal cycles and normalizing steps assure consistent grain structure. Triple tempering at 400 degrees results in exceptional durability. A cryogenic treatment between temper cycles enhances the edge holding ability. Forging the blade with a distal taper ensures perfect balance. The deeply etched blade helps release food from the sidewalls.
Presentation grade California buckeye burl has an intricate swirling wood grain that is visually stunning and quite captivating. Stabilizing the wood enables it to hold up well to the heavy demands of either a professional or home kitchen. A front spacer is formed from redwood burl. Front and rear nickel silver caps surround the contoured d-shaped handle. Dark red and gold tones in the handle are an extraordinary combination that is immediately eye catching. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
