I have been using this oil for about a year on some new carbon steel knives I purchased. No rust or tarnish spots yet. Some of that is due to proper knife maintenance (wipe off frequently, clean and dry immediately after finished using). Before storing the knives, I always apply some of this camellia oil to the blades.
It only takes a small spray on each side of the knife. Then it easily spreads with a paper towel. Rub any excess into the wood handle as well to protect it from moisture.
I only purchased the small bottle, but I'll purchase a bigger bottle when I run out (which will probably be over a year from now). It seems to last a long time!
